Widows Empowerment

Widows living in Africa are amongst the most vulnerable people in the community. Many women who have lost a loving partner face risk of malnourishment, exposed to disease and even face isolation. We empower and educate widows who are socially, economically, physically excluded to provide them opportunity to live them and able to integrate into the society. Widows often struggle with serious economic hardship and are more likely to suffer from forms of disadvantage in Africa. For example research shows that the children of widowed mothers have worse health and are less likely to educate their children because of financial hardship.

We empower widows to break the cycle of poverty. Empowering all widows economically and socially, can help to boost economy and social relations.

The Widows Empowerment Initiative work to improve the access that widows living in poverty have to high quality education. Our skill acquisition plans and programs are set up to empower and educate widows. Our plans provide employment, work and business oriented skills development. Our aim with these programs is to provide widows with long term solutions and the educational support they need for a reliable route out of poverty and a brighter future.
